DESCRIPTION

Whooping cough is a highly contagious respiratory tract infection. In many people, it’s marked by a high pitched intake of breath that sounds like whoop. Before the vaccine was developed, whooping cough was considered a childhood disease

Symptoms –

Runny nose

Nasal congestion

Watery eyes

Fever

Cough

Vomiting

Extreme fatigue

High pitched whoop sound

Risk factors –

Infants who are younger than 12 years and didn’t receive full set of vaccines are at higher risk

Diagnosis and test –

A nose or throat culture and test

Blood test

Chest X-ray

Treatment –

Whooping cough can be treated with the help of medications
