Most infections involve the lower urinary tract – the bladder and the urethra. Women are at greatest risk of developing a UTI than are men. Infections limited to your bladder can be painful and annoying. However, serious consequences can occur if a UTI spreads to your kidneys

Strong and persistent urge to urinate

Burning sensation while urination

Urine that appears cloudy

Strong-smelling urine

Frequent urination

Treatment –

Medications are used to treat urinary tract infection. Commonly recommended include trimethoprim, fosfomycin, cephalexin, ceftriaxone etc.
