TORCH 8 PANEL TEST

DESCRIPTION – TORCH 8 profile is a panel of 8 tests that screens for infectious diseases including toxoplasmosis, rubella, herpes and cytomegalovirus infection. These test detects the presence of IgM and IgG antibodies produced by the body in response to these infections.

METHODOLOGY – semi-quantitative chemiluminiscent immunoassay

TURN AROUND TIME – within 2 Days

PATIENT PREPARATION –

COLLECT – serum separator tube

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells within 2 hours of collection

STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerated

STABILITY – ambient: 48 hours; refrigerated: 2 weeks; frozen: 1 year
