ASPERGILLUS ANTIBODY TEST
DESCRIPTION – the aspergillus antibody immunodiffusion test is used for the in vitro determination of precipitating antibodies to aspergillus species. Also used as an aid in the diagnosis of Aspergillosis. The result is not intended to be used as the sole means for clinical diagnosis or patient management decisions
METHODOLOGY – semi quantitative complement fixation
TURN AROUND TIME – 1-5 days
SPECIMEN PREPARATION –
COLLECT – serum separator tube
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – separate serum from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 ml of serum to transport tube
STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerated
STABILITY – ambient: 48 hours; refrigerated: 2 weeks; frozen: 1 year
UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – contaminated, hemolyzed or severely lipemic specimen
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS – clinical history is mandatory
