DESCRIPTION - a measure of the number of neutrophils in the blood. Neutrophils are a type of white blood cell. They help the body to fight infection. An absolute neutrophil count may be used to check for infection, inflammation, leukemia and other conditions

METHODOLOGY – qualitative flow cytometry

TURN AROUND TIME – 1-5 days

SPECIMEN REQUIERED –

COLLECT – plain red or serum separator tube

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – separate serum from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 3 ml serum to transport tube

STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – critical frozen

STABILITY – frozen: 1 month

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS – clinical history is mandatory
