ANTI CCP TEST

DESCRIPTION - a CCP antibody test is used to help diagnose rheumatoid arthritis. It’s often done along with or after a rheumatoid factor test. Rheumatoid factors are another type of autoantibody. RF tests used to be the main test to help diagnose rheumatoid arthritis.

METHODOLOGY – semi quantitative enzyme linked immunosorbent assay

TURN AROUND TIME – within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION –

COLLECT – serum separator tube

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – separate the serum from cells within 2 hours of collection

STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerated

STABILITY – ambient: 48 hours; refrigerated: 2 weeks; frozen: 1 year

UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – urine or plasma. Contaminated, hemolyzed, grossly icteric, heat-inactivated or severely lipemic specimen

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS – clinical history is mandatory
