DESCRIPTION – this syndrome can cause heart defects, poor immune system function, a cleft palate and low levels of calcium in the blood. This syndrome is present in individual from birth.
CLINICAL UTILITY – deletions in 22q11.2 have been associated with several disorders including di-george and velocardiofcaial syndrome (VCF)
METHODOLOGY – fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)

COLLECT – non diluted bone marrow aspirate
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – 3-5 ml peripheral blood in green top (sodium heparin)
